Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an **Airworthiness Engineer/Principal Airworthiness Engineer** to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within the **Office of Independent Airworthiness (OIAW)** . This position is based in **Rancho Bernardo, CA.** _This position can be filled at either the Airworthiness Engineer level or the Principal Airworthiness Engineer level, depending upon the qualifications below._ **Essential Duties:** + Roles and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: + Performs development of basis of certification, determines methods of compliance, and compliance verification. + Achieves the logical and systematic realization of customer airworthiness compliance (MIL-HDBK-516) into system solutions to meet program objectives (e.g. flight releases, type certification, continued airworthiness, and operational or airspace integration). + Reviews and coordinates with other Airworthiness Engineers, as well as with internal engineering disciplines at all levels of the air system to include: design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. + Reviews functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, interface definition, hardware, and software specifications for airworthiness compliance to the appropriate regulations, standards, and/or guidelines. + Manages airworthiness activities throughout the development, sustainment, and disposal lifecycles. **Basic Qualifications:** **Airworthiness Engineer (T02):** + Must have a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 2 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master's degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 0 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. (STEM) AND 0 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering. + Active in-Scope, DoD Secret clearance. + Ability to obtain a U.S. Government DoD Top Secret level security clearance, to include a Single Scope Background Investigation. + Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. + Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-516 + Experience in full lifecycle of Systems Engineering. **Basic Qualifications:** **Principal Airworthiness Engineer (T03):** + Must have a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 5 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master's degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 3 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. (STEM) AND 0 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering. + Active in-Scope, DoD Secret clearance. + Ability to obtain a U.S. Government DoD Top Secret level security clearance, to include a Single Scope Background Investigation. + Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. + Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-516 + Experience in full lifecycle of Systems Engineering. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Current approved PAR to applicable program + Active in-Scope, DoD Top Secret clearance. + Experience in leadership role on Systems Engineering Milestones SRR, PDR and CDR. + Experience in Cost/Schedule Integration, EVMS and CAM responsibilities. + Experience in proposal development. + Demonstrated communication and technical writing skills. + Proven ability to brief technical presentations to stakeholders. Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00Salary Range 2: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
